MacNify Widget Explained

The purpose of the dashboard widget for this blog is really simple: to provide easy access directly from your desktop to the MacNify blog.

The idea is that since the widget is always on your dashboard or desktop, it serves as an effective tool to remind you of the latest posts on MacNify.

The MacNify Widget in a nutshell

The MacNify Widget covers the two primary functions that a blog-serving widget ought to provide:
  • To display the latest posts on the MacNify blog.

  • To perform simple search by keyword on the content of MacNify blog.

That's basically it! We Mac users just love simplicity, don't we?

The MacNify Widget anatomy

  1. Blog Title: Click to launch MacNify.blogspot.com in browser.

  2. Post Titles: Click to read the complete post in browser.

  3. Search Box: Allows you to do simple search within the MacNify website. To submit a search, type in keyword(s) and hit the 'enter' key. When left blank, the content area will display the recent posts on MacNify.

  4. Display Mode: Indicates whether the content area is displaying recent posts, or search results according the the keyword(s) in Search Box.

  5. Scrolling Glass: Drag up and down to scroll through the widget content area.

  6. (more): Click to open the webpage to read the entire post.

  7. Post Summary: A preview of the post content. Unlike the Post Title, the Post Summary does not respond to mouse-clicking events.

'Cept it doesn't work as it is supposed to. When you click "more", rather than opening the blog in your browser, it tries to open it in the little widgets window, which means you can't see it all. Rather awkward.

yeah..have to agree with the other post (anonymous). that is exactly what it does..... and its annoying.

good idea....but but leaves a bit desired on execution.

if it wasnt for that......it'd be a primo widget.

Right, just don't click on "more.. " If you do you won't connect to the macnify website, you will get stuck in a weird dashboard/macnify place and you will have to reset your dashboard. If you click on the title of the article you will go to the rest of the article you want at MacNify. This would be a perfect widget if this was fixed.

Ditto on the weird trys-to-browse-on-reverse=of-widget thing. Wasn't this tested b4 release?

Obviously it wasn't test. Nothing comes up automatically, you have to search for something. And don't click on any links!! But then again, you get what you pay for, right?

Your widget isn't working. It used to back when I first had it, but I recently started using it again and now nothing comes up. If I do a search, it works, otherwise I'm left with a completely blank Macnify widget.

nstalled last month and have the same tip still and there is no magnifying glass on the installation. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and still no change. what is up with that?

This won't update. I keep getting the same old post on "cookie-stamping files". I read that one 14 times and am now proud to say I'm ready for another.

Doesn't work for me. Can get it to uninstall. Anyone have any ideas?
